"Leach's Winter Preserves and How to use them", 20 different ways of marking marmalade, part of Leach's Sixpenny cookery series. Late Edwardian, early 1920s magazine in overall good condition for age.  Beautiful cover with some slight wear to edge. 18 pages of advertisements, tips and recipes.  Wonderful recipes for wines and liqueurs, making the most of oranges, puddings with preserves, more marmalades including rhubarb marmalade, uncommon preserves such as lemon ketchup and sweet rose petal preserve, quince paste and much more.  Wonderful piece of cooking history and info.

Delightful vintage c1930s cup and saucer produced by The Staffs Teaset Company.  Decorated with charming images of a group of dogs having a picnic, dressed in their finest clothes and party hats eating jam tarts and the image on the saucer is that of the dogs playing.  Beautifully decorated,  in overall good condition for age, there is a small chip missing from beneath the saucer but you are unable to see this unless you turn the saucer over. and some slight wear to the image on saucer beneath the cup. Wonderfully nostalgic, very collectable and hard to find.

"Cooking In War-Time" by Elizabeth Craig, published by The Literary Press, 1940s.  Published during WW2 when rations were introduced and people struggled with the reality of food shortages. "Specially written to solve the food problems created by the war". Written to encourage women to produce healthy nutritious meals on the Home Front, there are sweet and savoury recipes from mock wild duck to Trench Cake, doughboys to wartime barley broth.  With advice on how to use rations, eke out the meat, preserve butter for winter use, make a hay box, cooking without fire, your store cupboard and even feeding your pets in wartime.  As a footnote the author says "Never allow it to be said that we British women, whose job it was to cook in the war, failed at our post.  Armed with wooden spoon, basin and saucepan we'll keep the pots boiling whatever happens". Book is in good condition for age too! Wonderful piece of social history full of interesting and useful recipes.

Stunning pair of vintage Art Deco Grindley hand painted cups and saucers.  Gorgeous textured floral design with lovely vibrant colours and floral detail to handles too.  There is a thin green border line painted below the inside of the rim too.  These are very collectable and rare, however they are not in perfect condition.  There is a small hairline on the inside of one cup which has not gone through to  the outside and is visible near inside rim (about 2cm), on the other cup there is a small nip on the outside of cup below the rim above the blue flower.  There are also two little chips on the underside of the saucers not visible when right side up.  Please see third photo for more detail.  Beautiful floral additions to the table and afternoon tea.

Lovely vintage original wraparound housecoat apron c1940s/1940s.  These aprons became very popular in the 1940s and are very much of their time.  This is in a very pretty green floral design with daisy with orange centre and green sprigs.  Apron has orange edging to sleeves, pocket etc.  In overall good condition for age, however there is some wear to edging on pocket about 2cm and the apron has been darned at the back where there was a tear, this has been done well and on first notice is not visible.  Apron has obviously been well loved and used over the years and remains bright and cheerful. Should fit size 12 but can be adjusted.

"The Stork Wartime Cookery Book" produced by Stork Margarine Company, 1940s.  Original wartime recipe book produced by Stork full of sweet and savoury recipes addressing the issues faced during wartime rations and emergencies etc.  Chapters on cooking in times of emergency (how to save your dinner if air raids come), cakes with less fruit and sugar alternatives (including wartime Christmas cake), puddings with less sugar, stretching and shrinking family meals, making most of veg, rice and tinned food, sauces to make wartime food more interesting.  In overall good condition for age, contents tight.  There are also three cuttings from wartime publications with recipes etc.  Very collectable and useful slice of life on the Home Front in 1940s.

"Good Housekeeping's 200 Household Hints For Wartime", published by Good Housekeeping.  Wonderful WW2 booklet, 40 pages, with great cover, full of hints, tips and advice for maintaining and cleaning the house during wartime in spite of lack of resources. General cleaning hints, preservation and protection, repairs and renovations, storage and miscellaneous household hints, useful household recipes, extermination of household pests and laundry hints included.  In very good condition for age - a household equivalent of "Make Do and Mend".

Very pretty and collectable set of four cups and saucers and matching milk jug  produced by Grindley in their Peach  Leaf  range of Petal Ware Crockery.  Produced in the 1940s and 1950s, this range of china was extremely popular as utility ware.  The crockery is in beautiful soft peachy colour with lovely soft pea green/jade handles  and in  good condition for age (there is a tiny nick to the base of the jug which is not visible when jug is standing).   A lovely sunny addition to the breakfast or tea table, putting a smile on early morning faces!  Very pretty indeed.

"War-Time Cookery" by Mrs Arthur Webb, published by Dent, 1942 (first published 1939).  This hard to find wartime cookery book is in very good condition for age, with unclipped dustjacket and decorative board covers beneath in very good condition too.  The book is inscription free and offers help, guidance and many recipes to help the housewife maintain as much of a healthy and varied diet as possible with the limited resources available.  Recipes ranging from sweet to savoury, fresh to canned.  Food for children and invalids, preserves, pickles, puddings and pies.  Haybox and casserole cookery, the housewife's garden, meatless meals and meat pies for the worker.  A rare opportunity to buy this wartime cookery book.

"Food Facts For The Kitchen Front" published by Collins during World War II.  This very collectable and hard to find book comes with a foreword by Lord Wooton the Minister of Food.  "A Book of Wartime and recipes and hints" - it is a collection of recipes, advice for eating healthily and cooking in a way to make the most of resources and rations.  From war and peace Christmas pudding to carrot beehive, potato pastry to pickled nasturtium seeds, sugar saving hints and packed lunch ideas - as Lord Wooton says in the introduction "housewives are war workers ... and I hope that they will find this a serviceable weapon".  Very collectable, in overall good condition for age, some slight foxing to pages due to age.

Lovely vintage teapot produced by Woods Ware as part of their Jasmine design.  Beautiful trademark soft buttery yellow colour.  This crockery was produced as utitilty ware in the 1940s and 1950s.  Teapot is in overall good condition for age, it is free from chips and cracks but there is some light crazing hence the lower price.  The teapot stands approx 16cm tall. Lovely vintage enamel flour bin with lid.  Traditional style white enamel with black lettering and rim.  The tin is in overall good condition for age with the only enamel loss to top of handle on bin lid about 2cm.  The inside of the bin is in very good condition with no rusting and would therefore be perfect for storage and display.  There is some slight browning to base handle area but this is not rust and is not visible front on. The bin measures approx 21cm tall plus approx 2cm for lid handle.  A lovely vintage addition to  the kitchen, perfect for display or storage.
