"A Calendar Of Country Receipts" by Nell Heaton, published by Faber & Faber, 1950.  Wonderful vintage book full of recipes in a week by week format, so allowing reader to use seasonal and obtainable produce. Collection of hints, reminders, scraps of half-forgotten lore and recipes for food, drink, lotions, floor polishes etc, showing housewives, rural and urban, that nothing need ever be wasted. From Aniseed cordial to sweet almond honeycomb, elderflower ointment to limeflower bon-bons, rough-weather lip-salve to freckle cures, crab and geranium jelly to roseleaf pillow.  This is an absolute delight.  Book is in good condition for age, there is some wear to dustjacket.

Beautiful 1930s Crinoline Lady Teapot produced by Sadler, with the words "Ye Daintee Ladyee Teapot" imprinted on base. Beautiful duck egg blue bisque finish and very pretty hand painted face details.  In lovely condition for age, however there is a tiny nick to the bottom of the lid (see photo).  The teapot stands approx 20cm tall from the top of her bouffant to the base of her crinoline.  Marvellously captures the spirit of the 1930s.

"Good Cooking On Rings" by Ambrose Heath, published by Faber, first edition 1949.  The aim of the book is to be able 'to furnish a delightful meal with the minimum of implements.'  Ambrose Heath, the very popular cookery writer, offers a variety of recipes from soups, eggs, meat, fish, veg, sweets, savoury dishes and griddle cakes.  In overall good condition for age, there are a few small closed tears on dustjacket edges.

"What Every Cook Should Know" by Jessie Lindsay and Helen Tress, published by James Nisbet & co, 1959 edition, first published 1932.  Wonderful vintage cookbook offering help and advice to many cookery problems - "Why does cake have cracked top", "Lumpy sauces", 'cloudy jellies" etc, as well as basic recipes and advice.  Book is in very good condition for age, the board covers are stunning and would make a wonderful display item in the kitchen.  Matching dustjacket has not been price clipped but has some nibbles to edges.

A trio of cup, saucer and tea plate and spoon produced to commemorate the Coronation of King George VI and HM Queen Elizabeth in 1937.  Each item carries commemorative image of the King and Queen and the spoon has their profile at the tip with 1937 date. Very pretty embroidered white cotton linen  tray cloth in good condition for age. Hand embroidered with lovely design at each end of Crinoline Lady with parasol strolling amongst the flowers with home in the background.  Measures approx 41cm x 62cm.  This could also be used as a decorative chair back or adapted into a cushion cover.

Stunning pair of vintage Art Deco Grindley hand painted cups and saucers.  Gorgeous textured floral design with lovely vibrant colours and floral detail to handles too.  There is a thin green border line painted below the inside of the rim too.  These are very collectable and rare, however they are not in perfect condition.  There is a small hairline on the inside of one cup which has not gone through to  the outside and is visible near inside rim (about 2cm), on the other cup there is a small nip on the outside of cup below the rim above the blue flower.  There are also two little chips on the underside of the saucers not visible when right side up.  Please see third photo for more detail.  Beautiful floral additions to the table and afternoon tea.

"Cooking In War-Time" by Elizabeth Craig, published by The Literary Press, 1940s.  Published during WW2 when rations were introduced and people struggled with the reality of food shortages. "Specially written to solve the food problems created by the war". Written to encourage women to produce healthy nutritious meals on the Home Front, there are sweet and savoury recipes from mock wild duck to Trench Cake, doughboys to wartime barley broth.  With advice on how to use rations, eke out the meat, preserve butter for winter use, make a hay box, cooking without fire, your store cupboard and even feeding your animals in wartime.  As a footnote the author says "Never allow it to be said that we British women, whose job it was to cook in the war, failed at our post.  Armed with wooden spoon, basin and saucepan we'll keep the pots boiling whatever happens". Book is in good condition for age too! Wonderful piece of social history full of interesting and useful recipes.

Lovely vintage desert bowl set produced by Pountney & Co Ltd, Bristol c1930s.  One larger dessert/fruit bowl and six smaller matching bowls.  All have light crazing but are free from cracks and chips.  Delightful dainty imagery on each bowl, typical of 1930s, crinoline couple surrounded by pretty foliage and florals with gold painted rim to each bowl. A very charming addition to your dinner or tea table.

Lovely tureen produced by Grindley as part of their Petal Ware collection, in very pretty and delicate pale soft green from the Almond Petal range. Produced in the 1940s and 1950s, this range of china was extremely popular as utility ware. In overall good condition for age, the tureen has some light crazing to lid but no cracks or chips.  Lovely display item as well as practical and collectable too.

Lovely vintage original wraparound housecoat apron c1940s/1940s.  These aprons became very popular in the 1940s and are very much of their time.  This is in a very pretty green floral design with daisy with orange centre and green sprigs.  Apron has orange edging to sleeves, pocket etc.  In overall good condition for age, however there is some wear to edging on pocket about 2cm and the apron has been darned at the back where there was a tear, this has been done well and on first notice is not visible.  Apron has obviously been well loved and used over the years and remains bright and cheerful. Should fit size 12 but can be adjusted.

"The Stork Wartime Cookery Book" produced by Stork Margarine Company, 1940s.  Original wartime recipe book produced by Stork full of sweet and savoury recipes addressing the issues faced during wartime rations and emergencies etc.  Chapters on cooking in times of emergency (how to save your dinner if air raids come), cakes with less fruit and sugar alternatives (including wartime Christmas cake), puddings with less sugar, stretching and shrinking family meals, making most of veg, rice and tinned food, sauces to make wartime food more interesting.  In overall good condition for age, contents tight.  There are also three cuttings from wartime publications with recipes etc.  Very collectable and useful slice of life on the Home Front in 1940s.

We remember these from our childhood kitchen cupboards!Vintage blackbird pie funnel - bearing the original registered patent number of 809138 - the original design created by Clarice Cliffe.  These were first produced in the 1930s and carried on into 1950s in this colourway.  This one does carries the stamp "Made In England" on inside in green. The ceramicist Cliffe was the first to register the Blackbird design in England.  This pie funnel is in overall good condition for age - there is some very slight colour loss to  the black of the bird, the beak and claws remain yellow.  There are no chips or cracks and the glaze remains present all over the funnel, there seems to be a slight nibble to the base but this seems to be from when it was made as this is glazed over.  Perfect addition to the kitchen shelves or inside your pie. Stands approx 11cm high.

"War-Time Cookery" by Mrs Arthur Webb, published by Dent, 1942 (first published 1939).  This hard to find wartime cookery book is in very good condition for age, with unclipped dustjacket and decorative board covers beneath in very good condition too.  The book is inscription free and offers help, guidance and many recipes to help the housewife maintain as much of a healthy and varied diet as possible with the limited resources available.  Recipes ranging from sweet to savoury, fresh to canned.  Food for children and invalids, preserves, pickles, puddings and pies.  Haybox and casserole cookery, the housewife's garden, meatless meals and meat pies for the worker.  A rare opportunity to buy this wartime cookery book.

"Food Facts For The Kitchen Front" published by Collins during World War II.  This very collectable and hard to find book comes with a foreword by Lord Wooton the Minister of Food.  "A Book of Wartime and recipes and hints" - it is a collection of recipes, advice for eating healthily and cooking in a way to make the most of resources and rations.  From war and peace Christmas pudding to carrot beehive, potato pastry to pickled nasturtium seeds, sugar saving hints and packed lunch ideas - as Lord Wooton says in the introduction "housewives are war workers ... and I hope that they will find this a serviceable weapon".  Very collectable, in overall good condition for age, some slight foxing to pages due to age.

Lovely vintage enamel flour bin with lid.  Traditional style white enamel with black lettering and rim.  The tin is in overall good condition for age with the only enamel loss to top of handle on bin lid about 2cm.  The inside of the bin is in very good condition with no rusting and would therefore be perfect for storage and display.  There is some slight browning to base handle area but this is not rust and is not visible front on. The bin measures approx 21cm tall plus approx 2cm for lid handle.  A lovely vintage addition to  the kitchen, perfect for display or storage.
