"Cottage Into House" by Anthony Armstrong, published by Collins 1944 edition, first published 1936.  Very entertaining account of the author's move from the town to the Sussex countryside and his tales of grappling with the garden, countryside and cottage.  Illustrated with charming illustrations by Bertram Prance of Punch fame.  A very entertaining story of adapting from life in Hampstead Heath to the Sussex countryside in late 1920s. Delightful vintage French textbook published by Blackie c1920s, "Le Livre Rouge" by E Magee - 'a picture book giving a large vocabulary of words which little children use every day."  Book has beautiful colour and black and white illustrations which are absolutely charming.  Removable dust jacket too and illustrated board covers too.  Book is free from inscription and is in remarkably good condition for age and considering its use.  There is some foxing to page edges.  The book consists of lessons of vocab, text stories and questions.  A really lovely book.

Lovely vintage edition of Cicely Mary Barker's "Flower Fairies Of The Summer" published by Blackie.  This is undated but has unclipped dustjacket with price of 1/6, showing that it is an early or maybe 1st edition? It has a gift inscription on inside page with date 1934. The dustjacket and board jackets beneath are in good condition.    The opening couple of black and white illustrations appear to have been lightly coloured in on endpapers only.  The rest of the book is in lovely condition, beautiful colour images by the author and text clean. Wild Rose fairy, Poppy fairy,  Foxglove Fairy and Honeysuck Fairy amongst the wonderful creations. A great collectable vintage edition of this book.

"You Can Make It" by Morley Adams, published by Faber & Faber, 1943 third impression.  Wonderful WW2 book full of ideas for children to make their own toys using very little and in order to solve the rationing and resources shortage.  In good condition for age.  Full of great ideas from walnut pincushions, acorn bunnies and elves, potato pen-holders, a wrist purse, squirty fish, matchbox mangle, matchbox calendar and pocket comb case to name some of the projects.  Beautifully illustrated throughout by the two imps.  The book has removable paper dustjacket which is not price clipped, free from inscription, some slight wear along inside cover, contents tight and bright.  A lovely example of 1940s resourcefulness and make do and mend.
