| Wonderfully retro 1950s Beswick toast rack, produced as part of their "Green Fingers" range. A gorgeous image at either end of the toast rack of a woman, rake in hand in a beautiful dirndl skirt happily gardening amongst the flowers. These pottery items are highly collectible. A fascinating book teaching the art of laundrywork in an institutional and domestic setting. Chapters on washing different fabrics, principles of laundrywork, domestic laundering appliances, tips on washing without soap, boiling, handwashing, ironing etc with recipes for soap powder etc. Some wonderful black and white illustrations and marvellous advertisements at the back of the book. Previous owner's name on inside front cover and there are notes in ink (very small) on a couple of pages by the owner. Book in overall good condition for age, spine a little fragile but contents are tight. Accompanied by a dozen wooden pegs to get you in the mood! Fascinating and highly collectible. A slice of 1930s social history. |

| Both practical and charming, this lovely vintae china dog string holder is designed to hang on the wall. Made by Arthur Wood Potteries and marked on the back with the words 'Made in England' and the serial number 4788. Approx 12 x 10 cm. The condition overall is good, however there is a small hairline crack on the back of the holder and some crazing to the glaze. These small flaws are not detrimental to the charm of this piece. This lovely pooch comes with a new ball of string and a useful pair of new scissors too. |

| It is rare to find tins from this era in such mint condition with original contents. We have a collection of these attractive little tins made by Lanes from the 1940s... all with original black boot polish superfine wax no less. Little green tins with an image of Big Ben clock tower on the lid and small tablet of black boot polish inside each one. Tins measure 5.5cm and all are in excellent condition having been stored safely for many years. Hmmm... love the smell of boot polish! |
